What we think about art varies from person to person, and some never think of it at all. Various things appeal to me, from the striking geometry of several layers of expressway to the iridescense of a butterfly wing. When I draw, paint, or create a print or a book, I try to satisfy my own taste. Never do I try to call attention to the social or political ills of the world. I would want the viewer or (in the case of books) the participant to enjoy what they see. Usually that runs  mostly to realism. In bookmaking I hope to involve people in the progression of thought and activity.

The concepts for all my books are the results of long periods of  thinking interspersed with an occasional AHA! The making of them takes many hours of searching for papers (Chicago, Seattle, Atlanta), embellishments, and art and photos I have made as well as the actual labor of the making of them. Lois Reeve McKinstry My name is Lois McKinstry. I am 76 and falling headlong into 77. I enter artwork in various shows and win awards. I plan to keep this up as long as I can.

Thank you for coming to my web site.
